Bath cooking ideas?

Does anyone have any suggestions for meals to be batch cooked, please? Now I’m back at work after mat leave, we’re struggling with evening meals on days when I work in the office as DH is handling both kids’ pick-up and bedtime and can’t face actual cooking for us once they’re in bed.

I’m looking for ideas for stuff that can be reheated and served with pasta/rice or actual meals which can be cooked in the oven. We are in a bit of a pasta/mince rut at the moment so would welcome suggestions for anything that isn’t chilli/bolognese/macaroni cheese, etc!

Any links to good curry recipes that freeze well would be brilliant, ditto anything lighter/healthier. I occasionally do things like making two fish pies and freezing one but we are tight on space so stuff which can be bagged and frozen is easier to store.

Any suggestions?

I do things like make a vat of good tomato sauce and have it with pasta.

Add Chilli peppers and beans for chilli

Add minced beef for bolognese

Pizza base from milk and self raising flour, topped with tomato sauce and toppings.

Make a pasta bake with it.

Each meal feels quite different, but there's enough for a week.

Also, pulled pork shoulder done in the slow cooker gives loads of shredded pork. Have it on a jacket potato or with sweet potato mash, in a French bread sandwich or a big soft roll.

Refried beans is good. Reheats easily. Can have it with wraps, salad and cheese, or on nachos.

I’m a big fan of making a big vat of chicken curry (Maunika Gowardhan recipes are amazing) then freezing in batches. Thai curry is a nice easier option as well that can be easily frozen. Also a chicken stew like a coq au vin works well, or dahl... a sausage & bean stew can be a good option as well.

I love the typo !
My favourite is a big batch of ragu, frozen in suitable portion sizes.
The easiest ways are to reheat & pour over pasta, or cover with mash for a cottage pie.
A bit more effort, but still easy, turn into lasagne or moussaka.

Oh God, the typo! I’m just going to brazen it out, @Georgyporky - doesn’t everyone cook in the bath?Grin

Thank you all, there are some great ideas here. I definitely like the idea of anything slow cooker - does pulled pork freeze ok?

I was imagining cooking huge portions of food in the bath!

I thought this would end up being some bizarre way of cooking, like lasagne in the dishwasher

My neighbour once marinated a whole lamb in tandoori spices in his bath in preparation for spit roasting it. It wasn't a petty sight!

That must have left an interesting bath ring for someone to clean !

Pulled pork freezes very well, but submerge it in liquid.
I also do a version of it in the s.c. with Chinese seasonings - a very inauthentic char sui pork. Great to top stir-fried veg with rice or noodles.

I have few recipes to offer you which will be new to you, but for what it's worth my advice is this:
Reheating cooked chicken is always disappointing and makes it dry even if the sauce is moist so go for veg or red meats which like a slow cook if you are going to cook twice.
I batch cook a lot and I do it so I either don't have to think midweek or I can speed up the process.
If I prep whole dishes and then have to defrost them it doesn't save time so I freeze constituents which can be defrosted quickly to make meals. Most importantly for speed I freeze in ziplock bags which are labelled, half filled and then flattened with all the air pushed out so I can whack them on the countertop to snap off as much as I want and defrost quickly.
Dahl
Bombay potatoes
Veg curry
Keema
Bringal
Bhindi
Mashed potatoes (add butter and seasoning when you defrost it)
Puréed carrots
Pilaff
Roasted veg
Sausage and bean stew
Goulash
Red meat stews and casseroles ( most forms)
Tagine
Fried off onions and mince ( the combo which launches a thousand quick dishes)
