Do you pre-cook your sausages when you make toad in the hole?

And if so how do they not burn when they're in the oven with the yorkshire pudding?

Basically I grill mine then put them in the oven with the yorkshire pudding batter but any exposed sausage comes out black.

So I 'm wondering if I should be putting them into the batter raw??? Not sure if I'm brave enough to trust they'll be cooked?

Thanks

I just cook them enough to get a little bit of colour on them, and then chuck 'em in.

Yiu just need to brown them in a frying pan, they will cook in the batter.

half cook them for 10mins or so. They don't need to be fully cooked when they go in, but they need a bit.

I put them in the roasting tin in the oven for about 5 mins before I pour the batter in.

I cook mine in the oven first (in fact I cook all sausages in the oven, much nicer). So bung in over for about 20 mins? then ppur batter into pan. Also means the pan is nice and hot and you have extra fat from the soss.

Same as effie here, I much prefer sausages cooked in the oven.

I usually put them in raw. (I think, been a while since I made it)
