Using up trifle sponges but not in a trifle

I've a pack of trifle sponges that I didn't use at Christmas. Trying to think of ideas to use them other than traditional trifle or Tiramisu as DH not keen on either of those (wouldn't have mattered at Christmas if we'd been allowed more people here as I'd have made a 2nd dessert).
Any suggestions please?

Do you like trifle or tiramisu? You would get it all to yourself if so, that's what I would do Grin

You could bake them into a sort of bread and butter pudding, if gentle. Could make marmalade sandwiches for flavour before adding the custard.

DH just eats them. They are among his favourites.

Make individual servings of jelly or tiramisu. Enjoy them yourself.

Yes I'd just eat them on their own sandwiched with jam! We've a couple of people coming for a garden supper so just thought it might be an opportunity to use them up but wouldn't make a dessert DH wasn't keen on. Maybe I'll make something else and just eat the sponges with coffee myself!

Treacle tart or Queen of Puddings?

This looks easy although it’s trifle-adjacent

Or a different citrus variation

Something strawberry?

Or ice-cream related which might work if it’s a warm day?

I do a pudding I saw on the side of a custard box once - in a pyrex dish or similar, do a layer of sponge fingers, layer of tinned peach halves, cover in ready made custard then sprinkle with flaked almonds. Bake at gas mark 5 for 30 mins. Retro but tastes great.

Thank you all, appreciated

How about a Charlotte russe?

My dad used to make an amazing pudding that had sponge fingers on the outside, an alcoholic jelly layer at the bottom and a lovely deep layer of creamy bavarois on top. I have no idea where he got the recipe from sadly, but my it was delicious.

That looks lovely @lostlanguages but I have the rectangular sponges not the fingers. Some recipes would work ok with the sponges instead of fingers (eg tiramisu) but don't think they would stand up the same.

Sorry I wasn't clear - to me the rectangular ones are the trifle sponges and the long thin ones I call fingers.

I make summer pudding with sponge cake (trifle sponge or Madeira) It’s much nicer than bread, which often goes a bit slimy.
