I know there are about a billion recipes available on Google. But some of them look so untasty! Can anyone offer up their tried and trusted low(er) sugar bakes? I'll be forever grateful Smile

Davina McCall’s sugar free flapjacks always seem to be talked about, but the Healthy Flapjacks recipe Sneaky Veg is my favourite! I swap the sunflower oil for coconut oil (warm it through a little first so that it’s runny) and often leave the dried fruit out. These have much less butter than some of the recipes too, but all my family love them!
This fruit cake is also yummy Fruit cake realfood.tesco.com/recipes/no-added-sugar-fruit-cake.html

If you’re not opposed to using sweeteners, Splenda and Canderel have lots of recipes on their websites.
Other fantastic recipes using sweeteners:

I make this cake www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/classic-victoria-sandwich-recipe with a straight swap of 200g caster sugar with 200g xylitol in the sponge batter. The result is a beautifully light cake with some colour. I replace the jam with St Dalfour jam (naturally sweetened with grape juice) and give the buttercream a miss.

Is there an actual reason you need a low sugar bake? In my experience they really don't cut the mustard, I find it far better to have the real deal but as a treat once or twice a week, rather than a sad impersonation every night.

Be careful with 'healthy' ingredients, they are rarely that healthy and often expensive. @Fivemoreminutes1 suggests substituting sunflower oil for coconut oil, fine if you are doing that for flavour, but worth noting coconut oil is higher in saturated fat than normal butter. Likewise, be careful with people suggesting agave nectar/honey/maple syrup. These are just sugars in a more 'natural' form, so similarly bad to be consuming overly frequently. Not saying you shouldn't use these if you enjoy the end product, just using them as substitutes for normal baking ingredients will not make for a more healthy item - fat is fat, and sugar is sugar.

There's not a lot of sugar in this malt loaf recipe considering it makes two. They keep well and I tend to freeze the second loaf.
