Lasagne

My sister in law has just given birth and I’d like to make her a lasagne that she can just put in the oven and not have to cook, but maybe put in the freezer if she doesn’t want to have it for a couple of days.

Once I assemble the lasagne, should I put it in the oven before giving it to her, for her to reheat in her oven? Or can I just give it to her with uncooked lasagne sheets in there? Will it affect cooking times? I’m thinking that if you put a lasagne with hot mince in the oven will take less time to cook the lasagne sheets than a chilled lasagne. I’m probably totally overthinking this though.

The nicest lasagne I have ever had was when I assembled it and then left it in the fridge. The sauce had soften the lasagne over time and it was lovely. I would make it and give it to her to put in the oven - it gives her much more options. Ultimately she would needto heat it through

Normally, I cook a massive one, use what we want and divide the rest into portions and freeze, then they can just be bunged in the microwave, job done.
However, when I want to freeze a whole one, I assemble it when the ragu is still hot so the pasta will soften a bit, it won't cook but it'll sort of get started. I would put the warm bechamel on top, cover and freeze as soon as it’s cool enough. If you assembled it cold and put it into the freezer, as the ragu freezes it will go hard and crack the brittle pasta.
I then allow to defrost overnight in fridge and put in oven as though I had put it together fresh.

Thanks both!
