Alternatives to Christmas cake, pudding, mince pies etc....

My DH and DDs hate anything with dried fruit in it so Christmas cake, pudding, mince pies are all out (all the more for me though !)
I've done small apple pies and last year did a sticky toffee pudding for DH. Wondered whether anyone has any other alternatives.

Thanks for any help given.

We do a chocolate orange cake (Nigella's storecupboard cake), no dried fruit but very seasonal with a dash of cointreau flavoured cream (have recipe if you would like it). Also saw some little cakes in town yesterday made of simple choccy rice xcrispie cake mixture but shaped into balls like christmas puds with fondant icing cream / holly on- will be making those for DS's.

Ok- verye asy. I know the idea soudns odd but try making one before you judge- yummy!

125g unsalted butter
100g dark choc (I use good bitter stuff) broken into chunks
300g good marmalade- shreds is best but can be skipped if you hate them.
150g caster sugar
pinch of salt
2 large eggs, beaten
150g SR flour

preheat oven to 180 / gm 4

melt butter in a thick based pan over a low heat. When almost completely melted, stir in choccy leave momentarily to soften then remove from heat. Stir until smooth and combined.

Add amrmaldae, sugar, salt and eggs. When amalgamated, beat in flour a bit at a time.

Pur into tin and bake about 50 mins or until tester comes clean, rest for 10 mins before turning out.

In know the amrmalade sounds odd, but really it just tastes like orange in thsi cake.

Thanks! Will do a "test cake" first. Must make sure it's OK to serve for Christmas!
