Hi- can anyone recommend a quick and easy supper dish for 16 people. It's my Ds christening/2nd bd next weekend, I work full time and am racking my brains to come up with something that I don't have to spend hours over. Any ideas? or something I can get delivered? Websites?

What about spag bol? You can do heaps of that as long as you have big enough pans!

thai curry is super easy and also good value as can put lots of veg in - serve with some jasmine rice, then you can start with prawn crackers and dips and other oriental nibbles which are quite good from supermarket and just need heating, or just some mini rolls and some sesame oil and sweet chilli sauce for dipping

and finish with lemongrass granita which sounds v posh but is incredibly easy

can post recipies if you want

hope you have a grand time

for pud, what about tiramisu -- easy to make in bulk and best made in advance

got p*ss-easy recipe, let me know

Bradsmum · 29/10/2004 13:59

Thanks for ideas - I like the sound of the Thai curry one with lemongrass granita - recipe would be fab if you can pls Subs. Also would love the tiramisu recipe if I go down the Italian route pls bakedpotato. As Vict17 rightly points out - half the problem is the size of the serving pans!
Thanks all for the help - am feeling more motivated now!

thai curry - get either red or green thai curry paste from supermarket (i think green is nicer) and also limes, garlic, ginger and chillies, lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves if you can find them, cocnut milk and coriander. i use chicken but fish/ k proawns/ just veg great too... dice up chicken into bit size pieces and marindae in some of the curry paste and lime juice for hour or so - then seal in hotish pan (i use wok) and veg oil. remove from pan then add more curry paste, diced or juived ginger, garlic and het through til smells good, ad veg ( any combination of mushrooms, onion, aubergine (esp thai aub but dont panic if you cant get them)courgette, peppers etc), toss around, put chicken and juices back, slosh in some white wine and cook off alcahol then add coconut milk, bruised lemongrass, lime leaves and chicken stock bring to simmer and cook for half an hour ish - always tatstes better next day so in advance - -squeeze in lime juice and put on tins of chopped corainder before serving is so so easy and tastes AMAZING

the granita is basically a sugar syrup infused with lemongrass - then put in low sided tub in freezer and stir every half hour or so til is like a solid ish slush puppy - tases so good and perfect after rich curry

Bakedpotato I would love your recipe for Tiramisu.
Shall I CAT you or could you post it on here?

bakedpotato · 29/10/2004 14:27

curry sounds amazing. but if you go italian

tisamisu for 6
5 cups espresso coffee
bit of Marsala or Amaretto or rum
500 grammes marscapone
5 eggs
sponge finger biscuits (like the ones for making trifle)
5 tablespoons caster sugar

separate eggs. mix yolks with marscapone and sugar. when creamy, add spash alcohol to taste. whisk whites, then fold together with marscapone mix.
mix a little more alcohol with coffee in shallow bowl. dunk biscuits individually and lay in dish. cover with mixture and repeat in layers, finishing with mixture. sieve cocoa powder over top.
needs 24 hrs in fridge

AuntyQuated · 29/10/2004 14:32

Bakedpotato - that Tiramisu sounds wicked - thanks! How do you think they'll like Thai Green Currey followed by Tiramisu ..hmmm. Perhaps could have a Morrocan starter ....
