13 for a meal at 6ish.
2 sittings

  • 6 children betweem 5 and 8
  • 7 adults

i would like to cook something in advance so little hassle once everyone is here.

children - one dish, but no idea what.
adults - 3 dishes, thought of a winter warmer theme, and so far have pork and banana curry, Ainsley's Speckled Eye stew ( basically a squash, bean and potato curry).

So i would love your ideas on a children's dish and another adult one to be served with rice.

thnaks

In the sommerfield magazine they have breadsticks with the ends dipped in cream cheese. Then they stuck twigletts all over the ends, they make fantastic broomsticks, really honestly look good. They serve those with pumpkin soup.

Pumpkin soup and crusty bread?

pepsi · 28/10/2004 19:05

How about a halloween hot pot, basically its just mince, onion, cubes of pumpkin or other squash, tin of baked beans, bit of stock, cook it all in one pot and serve with whatever you like.

I'm doing baked potatoes prepared in advance by stuffing with cheese and some leeks softened in butter, then back in oven b4 serving to go brown and crunchy. Will serve with sausages (veggie) and "coffylowercheese"! For pud you could try Nigella's baked plums which couldn't be easier, can be warmed through in microwave later; serve with her scrummy barbados cream which is as easy as opening a tub of yoghurt! Could eat it now!

candy, that pud sounds delicious...is it in HTB Goddess?

what about a chilli?

Bensmum it's in How To Eat - she does it with red wine, honey and cardomon - I make mine with port (diluted half and half with water to about 250 mls), about 4 big tablespoons of honey, 3 tablespoons brown sugar, pinch of mixed spice and some crushed cardomons - cook this in a pan till it's nice and syrupy and then pour it over the plums, which you've put, cut side down, in a baking dish - bake for about an hour gas mark 3 - it's fantastic!
