Maggi cook in a bag - how to make your own ?

jamiedoger · 16/02/2021 13:26

I have recently discovered the maggi cook in a bag sachets - my family love them as the chicken is so tender.

We normally have the Mexican chicken, tikka masala or bbq flavour.

Because you cook the chicken in a bag on tastes so different and tender.

But I am trying to be healthy and save money so I want to do my own - any suggestions, particularly in how to make the chicken so succulent

Thanks

It's all in the resting of the chicken (I assume using a while chicken) cover with foil and rest for at ,East twenty minutes.

Avoid using ready packaged breasts, pointless if you are looking for flavour and juiciness. Use thighs instead, you can get them boneless and skinless and they have so much more flavour.

I have occasionally slow cooked a whole chicken upside down in a casserole pot with lid on, comes out really succulent too.

It's a bit bland, but the chicken is really tender!

(You can use this as a base by leaving the
mustard & honey out and adding your own spices or herbs...)

You can buy the bags in Tesco near the sandwich bags/ foil

They sell the bags in Home Bargains now too, I think a packet contains around 10 smaller chicken sized bags and one huge turkey sized bag. They're brilliant, I use them all the time. Add my own seasoning and bake as you would with the Maggi ones.
I used the turkey bag at Christmas and it worked brilliantly, really juicy but it did affect the cooking time a little.

Thanks - actually the maggi bags are for chicken breast and they are very succulent.

I normally spatchcock a whole chicken as it cooks faster and doesn't dry out which is nice
