Good snacks

Does anyone have any good ideas for snacks?

DP's eating habits are really annoying me! About 2 hours after we eat, he'll start moaning he's hungry. He'll then go and cook himself some chicken, heat up a ready meal, empty the fridge. He's basically eating a while other meal by himself every night.

Me....I avoid food altogether after 7.30pm, as I suffer terrible nightmare if I eat late lol.

I just need a good snack suggestion, that'll satisfy him.

Porridge
Cheese bread and fruit

Sausage roll
Rice pudding with banana, salted caramel sauce and chocolate chips
Pastrami bagel
Toasted panini
Beans on toast
Naan bread pizza
Nachos

Thanks for all the suggestions!

I've written them all down, and going to ask DP what he fancies. If he says nothing (which is likely) I'm just going to order some of what I think he might eat, and no doubt once he sees it sitting in the cupboard/fridge, he'll eat it Grin

I’d probably go far something that takes a while to eat like muesli with nuts.

minipie · 12/02/2021 16:43

PS I have the same issue except it’s at lunch. I’m happy with a small lunch, DH could eat for Britain. He generally has a round of bread or crackers plus cheese/pate and maybe some fruit.

Labobo · 12/02/2021 16:51

crackers and cheese
banana
nuts, olives, salami
bowl of cereal
toast and peanut butter

It's crazy how much DP can eat, and not put any weight on Angry

With us exercising less (Covid restrictions) and less money coming in, we need to be careful what we eat and spend.

Supernoodles
Flavoured rice packets
Jerky
Graze boxes

AnotherOne4 · 12/02/2021 19:46

Ooh I like the idea of Graze boxes. I might head over to their website for some ideas....

I buy them from the supermarket, the barbecue ones in the orange bags/boxes are my favourite.

It might be easier to have some easy meals that would appeal to him ready to go in the fridge.

Pesto pasta with green veg and shredded chicken?

Mexican spicy rice with peppers, sweetcorn and beans?

Basically cheap, filling, quick and easy stuff. Imagine you’re trying to fill a teenager with hollow legs.

Egghead68 · 13/02/2021 16:18

Cook extra for meals and he can have the leftovers?

AdaColeman · 13/02/2021 16:26

Make the dinner more filling, try to serve a thick soup as a first course with plenty of bread. Serve him extra potatoes, rice or pasta with the meal. Always have bread on the table or serve garlic bread with stews, large naan breads with curries etc.
Make a proper pudding, fruit crumble, fruit tart, rice pudding etc.

Thanks for all the replies.

Just done our online shop for the week. Got some nuts, porridge oats, peperami, beef kerky, some fruit pots and cheese and crackers.

Hope that'll do the trick.
