There's LOADS you can have "on toast" that isn't beans:
Tinned spaghetti (channel your inner gene hunt "i'm 'avin' 'oops")
Tinned tomatoes - even better with bacon
Tinned Mac cheese
Eggs any of several ways - fried, scrambled, poached, spiced... my favourite is mashed boiled eggs, boil the eggs and mash in a cup with some butter, ooh I've got some eggs in might have this tomorrow!
Creamed mushrooms - I looove this. Buttered toast, creamer mushrooms, black pepper - heaven!
Tinned pilchards (I'm veggie now but I used to LOVE this)
Cheese - as proper cheese on toast with one side toasted then flip with the cheese on top add a splash of hendos relish if you can
Bit of a niche one but trust me - mince! Done nice and savoury fried off with some onions and a little bit of gravy added. Yummy!
Generally hot lunches:
Soup - as a scot I cannot imagine going to my mums and there NOT being a pot of soup "on the go" even in summer, hell even in a heatwave
Pot snacks - pot noodles, pot pasta, pasta in a mug all that kinda thing
Tinned meals - people are quite snobby about these but they can be lovely and hit the spot for something quick, easy, hot filling and tasty - tinned curry, chilli, ravioli, spaghetti Bol, my dd who is not veggie likes meat chilli, chicken in sauce, Irish stew all that kinda stuff (there are many ways I think our ages should be reversed this is one of them, I like all different foods different cuisines etc she loves basic "British" dishes like stews)
Another Scots thing - hot rolls - maybe not the healthiest but as Long as you're not having it every day it's fine. Crusty morning rolls buttered and filled with hot breakfast items as per your choice from bacon, Lorne sausage, black pud, tattie scone, fried egg, scrambled egg, fried tomato... you get the idea. My favourite is tattie scone and fried egg and it has to be a yolky egg
Pastry products - pasties, sausage rolls, "slices" kinda thing you'd get from Greggs. Get it from the supermarket and get yourself some toastabags and you can heat them in the toaster! Means they're hot and crispy much better than when microwaved
Crumpets - lovely just buttered but also try with marmite, cheese (plastic cheese slices melt into them perfectly), or even pate.
Cous cous is super quick to make, flavoured or unflavoured. If using unflavoured all you need add is something to moisten (Butter, olive oil, soy sauce, hendos relish, sweet chilli sauce... loads of options) some kind of veg to make it healthy
I tend to opt for tinned sweet corn maybe some quickly diced mushrooms or sweet peppers, stir in the veg at the fluffing up/adding moisture stage, you can add seasoning if you feel it's needed I always have a garlic grinder in the house, in fact these days I have one I'm using and a spare! As I use it for so many things. So useful. This is something you could easily make in a mug too. Save on washing up!
