suction -bowl advice needed

My 11 month old baby likes to feed himself. I've tried various different suction bowls but each meal time he just yanks them, food and all, off the table. Has anyone out there had any luck with bowls that stick to the table? This lunch time I resorted to sticking a plate onto the table with sellotape. It worked but seems a bit crazy!

If it's not too messy - like pasta for example - I just tip it onto the highchair tray and let DS pick it up from there. The onlu other thing I've found which works is to let him feed himself, but to actually hold the bowl myself. I guess (hope) they grow out of wanting to wear their food bowls as hats eventually!

I agree with GillW. You will never manage to stop him pulling the bowl off, it's all part of the game (and wastes loads of money buying new bowls). I used to tip the food on the tray as well, it's amazing what becomes finger food at this stage. Clean the tray well and you'll be fine. Breakfast used to handfuls of cherrios and raisins with milk in a cup, Lunch was often pasta shapes with a bit of butter and grated cheese, or chunks of ham, sausage etc. In the evening mini vegetables (handfuls of peas, sweetcorn, carrots beans etc) potato shapes like Alphabites or something and pieces of fish finger etc.

If the food he eats is much runnier, then holding the bowl, newspaper on the floor (or a dog to eat all the spills!)
