Yes I know there's a pandemic on...

It's my birthday this weekend and I'm having a weekend in Italy.Well obviously not really just virtually!! But if you were recreating an Italian weekend at home, what would be your must haves food and drink wise? My 3 older dcs are all over the country so hoping we can have at least drinks "together".

I always chuckle when I see these blanket statements about Italian food (and children)
The mayor of Bologna incidentally, was roundly mocked when his declaration of the non-existence of SB. There were articles in the national press deriding him for his snobbery and belief that typical Bologna dishes were the only ones that count.

Similarly, in any restaurant you care to go to, true, there's no children's menu, because you'll generally be asked if the children want the same as the adults or just "pasta and sauce followed by chicken and chips".

Enjoy your weekend OP! Cake

Affogato would be a great pudding for you, individual portions of vanilla, chocolate or coffee ice cream with a shot of espresso poured over. Serve in large cups or glasses, with some little biscuits alongside if available. So easy, and a great use for your fancy coffee machine!

Forget Aperol, go for Campari!

A friends nona used to give us vanilla ice cream with coffee powder sprinkled on top. I think she called it ‘chimney sweep’ or something like that.

If just eat tiramisu and drink aperol spritz all weekend.

Chocolate and wine will do...

Just wanted to say a big thanks for all the great ideas on here - we tried Pasta Evangelists which was great, made our own yummy pizza, great wine, Roman Holiday, Letters to Juliet, Bellinis, great antipasti, some rather delicious chocolate meringues with expensive coffee ice cream, hot chocolate brandy sauce and espresso and even finished off with a trip to the Alps - well, a bit of sledge on a local hill!

I thoroughly recommend a pretend trip. We're having a scandi overnighter later in the week (not an Ikea meatball in sight!)
