Breakfast ideas for 1 year old

DD is 19 months old. She eats egg and toast in some form for breakfast most days. However a couple of times we've run out of eggs or time. She won't eat much else for breakfast.
She will very occasionally have yoghurt.
Doesn't like:
Porridge
Cereal
Waffles
Pancakes
Toast (with peanut butter, cheese spead, jam, etc)
Hardly eats fruit

Anything else I could attempt with her?

Bagel with cream cheese (the bagel thins are more manageable for little ones)
Cheese on toast or toastie
Mashed avocado in a wrap
Tinned plum tomatoes on toast

Both of mine always had weetabix, with a bit of milk then added yoghurt. I felt the texture was weird but it seemed to work for them. DD still eats that for breakfast most days.

Does she like bread rather than toast. Can you give her some buttered bread with some cheese / ham / avocado / tomatoes (on the bread or on the side).

We keep bake-at-home baguettes on hand so perhaps a baguette sandwich type thing similar to the above.

Smoothie? Although I imagine you want her to eat something more solid. DD went through a phase of not really being able to eat between waking up and leaving for school - she was used to having breakfast a bit later after she woke up. So I'd often give her smoothies made with frozen fruit, plain yoghurt, bananas (and whatever old fruit was lying around) as well as oats that i'd soaked overnight in apple juice.

Oat bars? Preferably homemade? Someone had a really easy recipe on here recently that I've been meaning to try.

Mine used to eat frittata for breakfast. I made one once a week and served up a slice every day.

You can make savoury or not very sweet muffins which are good for breakfast.

Hazelnutlatteplease · 30/01/2021 22:25

Beans on toast!

ForeverBubblegum · 30/01/2021 22:34

You can definitely expand 'things on tost', in our house cream cheese gose down well as does smooth peanut butter. Cheese on toast is good for a change, but not really any faster than egg, or sometimes we just have cut up fruit with cheese and crackers.

ForeverBubblegum · 30/01/2021 22:39

Sorry, just re-read your op, and realised you already ruled out most of my suggestions. Maybe just go for non breakfast type food, a sandwich (or whatever) has the same nutrition at 8am as at lunchtime.

Omelette
Salmon & eggs
Beans & sausages

BabyBee93 · 30/01/2021 22:58

Blueberry and banana breakfast muffins (they are made with banana and porridge oats but once blitzed together she probably wouldn't recognise it).

I also watched a fascinating programme recently about breakfasts around the world and found it very interesting but essentially we don't have to have "breakfast" foods in the morning. It can be anything that is nutritious and filling and can take the pressure out of breakfast as you can serve any foods she likes

My ds goes through phases of loving some foods and then not! Could you try again with some of tge items?

sandybeaches74 · 30/01/2021 23:45

My daughter eats a picky breakfast every day, normally cold meat, cheese, olives, cucumber, yoghurt and some fruit. She doesn't really like cereal or toast

TheSandgroper · 31/01/2021 06:46

Last night’s leftovers are good.

JiminyLeeCricket · 31/01/2021 06:51

Banana

Avocado

Fruit

Cheese

Bread roll

yikesanotherbooboo · 31/01/2021 06:57

My DC3 had egg n some form almost every day until he left school but other one toast' options were sardines, tuna, mushrooms, beans, cheese, avocado. Left over pasta was also a fairly regular option for a change. He also had a piece of fruit.when he was tiny he often ate after the school run but after that we just got up in time.

PTH20 · 31/01/2021 07:00

Hi OP, that’s a very, very broad selection of food she won’t eat. Would it be worth you trying to work on that?

TerrifiedOfTrying4No2 · 31/01/2021 07:05

Can you make a freeze a big back of breakfast egg muffins?

Eg. Spray muffin tray, filled with beaten egg with various breakfast fillings? Sausage and tomato, ham and cheese, cheese and beans ect bake in the oven for 20 minutes or so.

Also the ham and egg cups would go down well if you haven’t hopefully run out of eggs 😂 put a slice or two of ham in the muffin tray to form a cup, crack an egg into it and bake. Simple yet effective.

A breakfast wrap? Cut a line from the centre of a wrap then visual and fill each quarter of the circle with example: cheese, spinach, bacon/ham/sausage. Then fold from the cut in quarters. You could even throw it in a frying pan to melt the cheese that would help hold it together.

Big hit here is weetabix and lots of milk
In the microwave 45 seconds
Mash it all up
Blob of honey in it

Add blueberries/strawberries/raisins (especially if you let them add them themselves it becomes fun)

TJ17 · 02/02/2021 08:59

I also used to mix a fruit pouch into porridge (may work if she likes the smoothie)

andtellyouofmydreaming · 05/02/2021 19:38

@BabyBee93 do you have a recipe for the blueberry banana oat muffins ? If you're happy to share!

BabyBee93 · 05/02/2021 19:50

@TJ17 but of course! Have attached screen shots below, it's only an internet one!

Tip: I leave out the flaxseed and desiccated coconut as toddler wasn't keen on the texture. I also skip the vanilla when my bananas are really ripe as they give enough sweetness on their own.

You can freeze them in batches and defrost in the microwave too - GAME CHANGER on a school run! I like to serve with some yogurt on the side to make the meal go a bit farther. Enjoy Wink
