Hand held blender which doesn't splatter food upwards?

My hand held stick blender is really annoying because if there isn't a very deep depth of stuff is splatters food upwards. Do they all do this and if not can anyone recommend in which doesn't? I'm sick of getting hot sauces on me while I try to blend them...

I've had the Kenwood Triblade set for a few years. No splattering, whatever the depth of food/liquid.

But you do need to keep the blade end flat on the bottom of the saucepan / container, you can't lift or tilt it - unless you want to wear your soup.

We have this one too! I can angle it a bit so long as it stays under the liquid. Fun danger games.

Georgyporky · 21/01/2021 18:57

It sounds like you need to use a smaller container to keep the blades under the food.

Oh - I meant to say that this morning! Forgot.

Is this the only answer? I don't want to have to transfer a sauce from saucepan to smaller container for whizzing and then back again? Argh.

I've had a braun for years. It I tilt it out of the liquid it splatters, but otherwise its great.

A potential option might be to make a cover/lid to stop the splatter getting out the pan. I'm thinking a tupperware type plastic lid (often found lonely at the back of the cupboard with no base anymore!). With scissors or a knife, cut to the centre, then cut out a circular space to fit the stick blender centre. Put this around the stick as a collar.

Its the only other solution I have, other than finding a deeper dish as another poster said. My blender came with a tall, narrow flask, so I assume they work better when deep in liquid.

I tried to link but could not, try searching this on Amazon

Metaltex Protective Splatter Lid, Silicone, may work on saucepan as silicone

JumpLeadsForTwo · 21/01/2021 22:05

Don't bother buying a new blender. You need something like this www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mixing-Bowl-Splatter-Guard-Whisking-Mixing-Cover-Protector-Splashing-Lid/202589932439?epid=1649022806&hash=item2f2b4d0b97:g:csoAAOSw0ylcWy77

Or just cut 2 holes in a paper plate instead!

That is perfect!!!

Do they do them in a shape for a stick blender though? Isn’t it something like this that the OP has?

@JumpLeadsForTwo- I never knew you could actually buy a splatter guard!!! That sure beats my home-made version idea!!! Grin

@Elouera you could have made millions with your idea if it hadn't already been done Grin

The one I mentioned is definitely also for a blender

Oh yeah: www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B019W4NWL8/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_api_fabc_pQXcGbJK4Q7XZ?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

I tend to use some kitchen roll or aluminium foil to stop the splatter. Works well and no additional washing up.
