I’m going to try the Wahl’s diet to see if it will help with a condition.
I currently use cows milk in my porridge although oat milk in coffee.

Are there any particular milks that work best in porridge please?

TIA

Did you try the oat milk first?

Not very fashionable these days, but organic soya milk is really nice in porridge, for me at least.

rubyslippers · 18/01/2021 11:11

I use almond milk for overnight oats / porridge
I really like it

muddledmidget · 18/01/2021 11:19

I love oat milk in porridge, I add the milk to the porridge the night before along 2ith some brown sugar and raisins and leave it to soak, then the next morning I either eat it cold from the fridge if I'm short on time or warm it in the microwave for 90 secs. It goes really creamy from being left to soak

I use Koko Coconut Unsweetened, because of allergies, but it does taste good.

Harmarsuperstar · 18/01/2021 11:24

Oat milk goes well in porridge
We usually use soya milk though, because it's cheaper and more widely sold

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 18/01/2021 11:25

I used to use oat milk for porridge, it tastes by far the best as it intensifies the oat flavour. Now I usually use water because I only have porridge occasionally so it's a bit of a waste to throw out the left over oat milk. Koko is also pretty good, the original or the unsweetened not the 'super' which doesn't taste that great, if I didn't take my coffee black (as per user name) then I would probably use Koko over oat milk for that as it tastes milder.

Thank you all very much for the posts. I have Barista oat milk on the go at the moment for coffee but will try the regular oat milk in tomorrow’s porridge.

I find Oatly Barista too oaty in porridge, personally. I prefer to make it with water and then a splash of whatever plant milk I have handy (ideally almond milk, for taste, though I’ve mostly stopped buying it).

redcandlelight · 18/01/2021 12:43

oats drink
or coconut for overnight oats (but look at the ingredients, coconut milk sometimes contain unexpected ingredients)

RedRosie · 18/01/2021 12:45

We use the Oatly "whole'" version in porridge. I wouldn't use any of the barista products for this purpose, as I think they have oil/thickeners in to make them foam for coffee-making.

tormentil · 18/01/2021 12:50

I make my porridge with water only.

Blueuggboots · 18/01/2021 12:54

I always make my porridge with oatly barista. It's lovely!!

herecomesthsun · 18/01/2021 19:29

unsweetened almond

Happytodayhappytomorrow · 19/01/2021 18:17

thanks for all the comments. This morning I had the porridge with Alpro Oat Barista and it was lush (as normal). Tomorrow I shall try with water, or maybe half water, half oat milk. I add half a banana so I'm thinking I can probably reduce the 'milk' at least somewhat without too much negative effect.

Mostly almond milk but soya too for the past 20 plus years. Kay I find too 'oaty/milky) if that makes any sense but that's me. Try not to go by fashion but by health benefits and what tastes good for you.
