If you can't bear ready meals I would spend 80 quid on one of these...

LittleMissNorty · 26/10/2007 20:43

Well thanks Ledodgy ....now I'm REALLY looking forward to it

we didn't have a cooker for 6weeks and I steamed everything on a stacker steamer, salmon on the bottom and all my veggies at the top for example. You can cook anything on them and I lost a stone during the process.....

I can't talk about it

It makes me twitch!!!!!

Moving out in 2 weeks

ledodgy · 26/10/2007 21:31

Sorry littleMissNorty If it makes you feel any better it wouldn't have been so bad if we hadn't had cowboys fitting the kitchen who we had to get rid of half way through the job and if I wasn't 30 weeks pregnant, trying to nest and very hormonal. I'm sure you'll be fine.

Will watch thsi thread with interest...

as im about to have 2 MONTHS without a kitchen at work!

omeN666 · 26/10/2007 21:41

Is it a microwave oven

We had no kitchen for 5wks and basically did lots of pasta in microwave, pizzas, rice, spaghetti on toast and basic meals. We had to feed ourselves, 3yr old,6mth old and 18mth old and we actually got fed up of takeaway

milkyJammy · 27/10/2007 07:52

We had no kitchen for 3 months. You can do pretty good chillis, curries etc in a microwave, then while they rest cook rice/spuds to go with it. Also beans/scrambled eggs on toast, bakies, soups. I think we only had 1 ready meal. If you can it might be worth getting an electric grill (or borrowing one). We borrowed one so we could have steaks for xmas dinner

Thanks everyone ...I cannot believe how long some of you have gone without kitchens for...I was a bit when I was told a fortnight....

BBQ - whatever the weather....

If DH won't eat casseroles or whatever else that is easy to cook etc then send him outside in the rain to BBQ some meat/fish etc.

LittleMissNorty · 27/10/2007 08:37

oh BBQ - never thought of that one! Excellent

Just to add my twopennorth!

We had no kitchen for about 2 months. Survived on a combination of things mentioned here.

BBQ was incredibly useful. So was George Foreman Grill. Toaster(obviously) Microwave-jacket pots, reheating curries etc that we'd made in advance. A few takeaways and a couple of meals out.

and it's great if you get invited out to eat then you can repay everyone and invite them over to see your lovely new kitchen

LittleMissNorty · 27/10/2007 12:18

Oooh, need to go and get a toaster....use grill atm...DH said he'd look a prat BBQing in November....do I care?

OP posts:
heifer · 27/10/2007 19:04

who would see him?

Anyway if he won't help you out by eating casseroles etc then he can either look a prat or eat pot noddle every day whilst you enjoy home cooked stews...
