Hi,
I have a 2 litre carton of semi skimmed milk dated 24th December . It looks and smells ok but my teenage sons refuse to use it . Would you use it ? I was thinking of making macaroni and using it for the cheese sauce.....

Definitely not. It’s not a best before it’s a use by. Also it will be nasty as hell under the surface. Curdled. Yuck.

If it smells ok and isn’t curdled then I’d use it

NatalieH2220 · 03/01/2021 03:36

I wouldn't touch dairy if out of date no

GooGoo52 · 03/01/2021 03:37

I would use it for cooking or baking.

Pour a bit of it into a teacup or mug. Sniff it. If it smells fine, then it’s fine to drink or use. If you want to use up a bunch of it, then make several batches of cheese sauce and/or waffles or pancakes with it and stick some in the freezer.

I sniff everything before I use it (including DH).
An unopened carton MIGHT be OK - only one way to tell.
