that starts with 8oz SR flour?

It's a MN recipe but I can't remember who wrote it.
It's 8oz flour, 1 and half oz butter and 4 oz grated cheese.

TIA

I would imagine about 8 but if you shape it into a rectangle and cut it into 3 accross and 3 down you could get 9 with no waste.

i tend to make mini ones.....not cut them out just make little balls and flatten them.....

here's the recipe:

Cheese scones: the easiest thing in the world.

8 oz self-raising flour
pinch salt
1 tsp mustard powder
1 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 oz butter
4 oz grated cheddar
1/4 pint milk

Sieve flour, salt, mustard and baking powder. Rub in the butter until it looks like breadcrumbs (favourite bit for the children). Stir in most of the cheese and enough milk to make a soft dough. Roll out to 1/4 inch thickness and cut into rounds. Place on a greased baking tray, brush with milk and sprinkle remaining cheese on top. Bake at 220C / GM 7 for 10 mins.

I did double that and made about 20 biggish ones - very popular

I cook it lots

ivykaty44 · 26/10/2007 17:38

Thanks have taken this recipe aswell - thought they would be nice in pack lunch next week. Can I keep half the dough in the fridge and cook two or three days later do you think?

Tommy · 26/10/2007 18:04

don't know about scone dough in fridge - have never done it.

You could cook the whole batch and freeze the scones - then take them out as you need them?
