I made the rolled up aubergine thingy (involtini?) for a veggie New Year dinner party a couple of years ago and it was deeeeeeelicious.

DS1 likes the chocolatea and malteser cake which he has made a couple of times........ ths week!

MingMingtheWonderPet · 26/10/2007 22:05

Choc malteser cake is great

As is pumpkin cheesecake (and very seasonal)

The beetroot and cranberry soup was disgusting (well it was when I made it!)

Lamb and rice stuffing looks fab, not tried ot though

Chocolate Guiness cake is fab.

Mattar paneer is nice; also the veggie chilli. I think they are the only things I've made so far but I have made all of them at least 4 times as they are very good.

ScaryScienceT · 27/10/2007 18:12

Haven't made much from it, I confess. The Easter lamb on chickpeas was very nice.

MakemineaGandT · 28/10/2007 20:31

the fairfield granola and the muesli are both lovely

Hassled · 28/10/2007 20:32

The Brownies - they are little pieces of heaven. the best I've ever eaten, and work every time.
The chicken (Moghul?) curry is also gorgeous - rich and subtle.

AUBINA · 28/10/2007 22:17

The cranberry and white chocolate cookies on page 82 are delicious and work everytime. I buy my dried cranberries from Holland and Barrett as they do big bags, unlike Sainsburys. I've used different nuts, chocolate and dried fruit too. For example hazelnuts, milk chocolate and chopped dried apricots, equally good. Easy for children to make too.

janeiteofthelivingdead · 29/10/2007 19:58

Ooh I must try the cookies next... or the brownies...but I have had bad experiences with Nigella brownie recipes in the past..so maybe the cookies...but I love brownies!!!

What do people recommend from her other books? Can anything beat the wonder that is the chocolate guiness cake?

midnightexpress · 01/11/2007 10:15

The dried pear and marzipan fruit cake in Domestic Goddess is yummy, and the banana bread from the same book I make all the time when the bananas start to go black.

The granola in Feast is lovely too, yes. And there's a very good stew recipe in How to Eat, can't remember which one but beef, and it comes out all dark and glossy and just waiting to be mashed into some potatoes and scarfed in Nigella-type manner (does anyone else think she looks incredibly uncomfortable all folded up on that sofa trying to balance a plate on her lap and read some Terribly Important Bit of Paper while she eats without spilling it all down herself?).
