Is it just a raclette set or does it have a hot stone for cooking on top or other fancy functions?

The traditional way is to serve the raclette with charcuterie and new potatoes that you pour the melted raclette on. If you have a hot stone on top, you can cook thin slices of fresh meat and vegetables (eg mushrooms, peppers, onion, courgettes) as well. I slice the meat and put it on a plate on top of a bowl of ice to keep it cool. I would just keep it simple, don't try to use it to cook anything fancy. The fun is everyone cooking for themselves.

If you don't have a specialist cheese shop nearby, Waitrose and some branches of Tesco sell sliced raclette. You can also get it in Costco and online eg Amazon. I believe Lidl have it sometimes too.

You can use other cheeses if you can't get raclette eg cheddar, gruyere, Jarlsberg, St Paulin, mozzarella, gouda. I would say Jarlsberg and St Paulin are most similar to in taste to raclette. You could probably use it to cook halloumi too but I've never tried it.

If you do find raclette, I strongly recommend using it in cheeseburgers instead of plastic cheese slices!

Oh I love our raclette! As above really...I also like to have some rubs to dip the meat in, you can make them up or buy ready made ones. We also have pickles with the meat and cheese.

It’s a flat electric grill with 6 little flat spoons. Presumably you melt the cheese in the spoons?

Spoons Confused Does it have instructions or a photo on the box? Normally you get little pans that you melt the cheese in on a shelf under the grill element with a hot stone/grill plate on top of the element for cooking.

I've just remembered that one year we used the pans to fry quail's eggs (a neighbour kept them) Grin

Like this:

I forgot to say that the other traditional accompaniments are cornichons and tiny pickled silverskin onions.

Can I come round? I love raclette.
(Which my phone autocorrects to racketeering)

We have one like yours op with a big flat stone on the top with triangular trowel shaped dishes underneath?

We don't do it 'properly' We do meat/ sausage/chorizo on top and underneath do crusty bread, melted cheese, spring onions etc

We also in lockdown 'invented' the hot plate waffle ice cream sundae factory which involved waffles/ brownies , on top, and underneath marshmallows, chunks of chocolate, cookie dough and other melty bits. Served with ice cream.

M&S and Waitrose both sell raclette cheese
