Bean to Cup users, what coffee beans do you recommend?

So, I’ve been truly spoiled and DH has bought me a swanky Bean to Cup machine with 21 menu items, all configurable! Previously had a Tassimo that broke so this is quite the step up.
Apparently for best results you load it with 2 types of beans, dark for the espresso based and milder for the crema based recipes.
I have been given some bags as presents, but would appreciate recommendations of beans. DH doesn’t drink coffee and I will only have 1 or 2 cups a day, so would like to make the most of it.
Thanks

I use beans in a grinder, I’m using Lavazza crema in the brown bag at the moment. Amazon sell them, I like them.

If you’ve got a independent coffee shop nearby you can buy small amounts to find out what you like & the coffees better from them.

Great opportunity to support some independent retailers OP.

Yep, once Tier 4 is relaxed I would love to try some independents.
I use Lavazza in my cafetière so do like that, must try their beans, at least as a starter.
My SIL has a subscription but it’s too early for me to commit to regular stuff until have tried a few.

Lavazza Oro or Illy

We buy our beans from a coffee wholesaler as they have a shop near us and you can try some of the blends.

Before we found them though, we would buy bags of beans from local independent coffee shops where we knew we liked the coffee.

Origin coffee and Bailies both are both excellent roasters who will send freshly roasted beans (or ground coffee) by post. You'll likely have some local places too but appreciate that is harder right now. Pact and Hasbean are other options.

If it’s from the supermarket I get Lavazza in the gold bag but we have a couple of local roasters I buy from when I can. Have a look if you have a local supplier

SantaMonicaPier · 29/12/2020 19:42

I like the simmer down ones (I get decaff)

We have a few subscriptions (we seem to drink a lot of coffee) but the dog & hat one might be good for you. They bundle beans from different suppliers each month, so you would get to try lots then if you find some you like you can try more of theirs.

I use an independent local roaster. Based in Manchester City centre. Mancoco- they deliver too.

www.hasbean.co.uk/ has some really lovely coffee

gingerperil · 15/01/2021 16:26

Find a local supplier! Better environmentally and you are supporting a local company.. and also more likely to be fresher.. beans should be ground and used 21 days after being roasted.. ones in supermarkets have been roasted a while back so don’t taste far more bitter (in my opinion!)

www.horshamcoffeeroaster.co.uk/collections/coffee-beans Amazing beans and do small pack selection so you can try a few to find which ones you like.. they taste surprisingly different!
