Hi, I have a three year old who drinks three or four beakerfuls of water a day at his childminders, but only about 1 1/2 beakers on the days he is at home. The amount he drinks at the childminders is causing probs with his potty training. But how much should he be drinking?

not sure how much they should drink but ds usually manages only 1 1/2 beakers full a day..... how is it causing problems with potty training as we are beggining to think about starting.

certainly no more than 11 units a week.

Heh, do I feel stoopid! Its his Mummy who drinks too much...anyway, the prob with drinking 3 - 4 beakerfuls is that it seems to overload his system and he has lots of 'accidents'. The childminder is worried that if he only drinks 1+1/2 beakers, his kidneys might be harmed.

1.5 beakers is probably fine, as long as he's not living solely on dry food. Fruit etc has a lot of water in it.

The real judge is the colour of his urine, it should be quite pale.
