One of my favourite canapes is fresh figs with blue cheese. Cut the fig in half (I normally trim the skin side a little so it sits flatter) and put a little blue cheese on top of the seed part of the fig then put it under the grill until the cheese is melted. Love the sweet/salty combo with a glass of wine.

Also premade puff pastry cut into small squares with just a little something on top. I normally do some kind of combo of pesto first, then a cheese, then a type of ham. E.g. basil pesto, brie, Parma ham works well. Or for kids tomato paste, mozzarella and cooked ham.

Home made blinis with smoked salmon, swirl of cream cheese and dull.
Bruscetta.
Mini quiches.
Not really very flashy but tasty and easy to make.

A bowl of hard boiled quail eggs for people to peel themselves.

Devilled eggs.

Mushrooms a la Greque

Anchovy or cheese twists made with puff pastry.

Patatas bravas are a favourite here. Jersey royals roasted unpeeled with a ton of crunchy salt or garlic salt. Spicy tomato sauce as a dip in the middle.

I made a big batch of tiny cheese and black olive scones, and then froze them.

When visitors arrive for coffee and gossip in the garden, the scones go back in the oven for 4 mins and are perfect warm with thyme jelly or left-over cranberry sauce. Good for a cheese board too.Smile

The ones that go down quickest here are mini toasties. Make sandwiches with preferred choice of filling (Brie and cranberry, cheddar and red onion, tomato and mozerella) buttered outsides, remove crusts and cut into nine then bake in hot oven.
Toasted nann, topped with mango chutney, a piece of chicken tikka and a drizzle of raita.

@namechange34 Do you add the topping to the raw puff pastry and cook it with the topping on, or do you cook the pastry first then add the topping? (Sorry for basic question!)

@LittleRa toppings go on the puff pastry raw. Just don't spread them all the way to the edge or you have nowhere to hold on Wink

Nigella’s parmesan shortbread is really easy and goes very well with a glass of fizz!
