Please throw some ideas at me that I can do over the weekend with my two little girls. Something Christmassy...

Don’t really fancy gingerbread though.

When I was little my mum got busy making stuff from nothing. One year she made funny crackers with us. Very simple, we started by making an envelope, then thinking of the aunties, cousins, uncles who would be sat around the Christmas table (no pandemic then you understand), would write down funny tasks they had to do. My uncle once had to write a limerick in 15 mins, my auntie had to stand on one leg and sing the national anthem, that sort of thing. The only thing we didn't have was the 'bang' factor whilst pulling a cracker, so as children we yelled at the top of our voices on Christmas day when the envelopes were open...'bang'.

Melting snowmen? www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/melting-snowmen
I also saw some Rudolph cupcakes with pretzels for his antlers, they looked like fun.
Fudge, coconut ice, chocolate truffles?

marzipan animals.

I'm avoiding this sort of baking but I am pretty sure BBC Good Food online had a Christmas baking section and I'm sure there's a kids friendly version too.

Christmas star biscuits to eat or hang on the tree.

Help to make the pigs in blankets, devils on horseback, dates stuffed with marzipan or nuts.

Peppermint creams.

Christmas Pudding biscuit cake. There a nice recipe on the BBC site.

We made sugar mice and are planning on making peppermint creams (both BBC Good Food recipes). The children loved making the sugar mice, but they are better as decorations than to eat!

Get a Christmas tree cookie cutter (or make a template out of card).

Bake biscuits, whatever type appeals to you.

Melt milk chocolate and apply a layer to the biscuits (only one at a time for each of them otherwise it’ll cool & set too quickly).

Have them decorate the trees with mini smarties, gold or silver balls & whatever other sprinkles you have.

Coconut ice

Cut out strips of festive paper to stick together with pritt stick to make festive paper chains.

Go for a walk, collects leaves and twigs etc and make a Christmas wreath
