Microwave Cakes

kaleishorrid · 06/12/2020 14:42

When I was at college (100 years ago) one of my friends always had delicious cakes. These were baked by her mother and they were always made in the microwave. Does anybody still bake cakes in a microwave? Does anybody have any failsafe recipes or could direct me towards a book? Thank you

My dc make microwave mug cakes all the time. Just Google for a recipe. There are hundreds.

Thank you but I was thinking more of "proper cakes" like carrot cake.

I've never heard of "proper" cakes being made in a microwave! Shock that's a new one for me.

I remember hearing about them and then my friend had - and very delicious they were too. I seem to remember her saying her mum went to a night class to learn how to do them.

Will be doing some research on google later!

I only know of mug cakes and syrup sponges too. I'm intrigued now! Smile

My microwaved Victoria sandwich turned into a delicious sponge pudding and the carrot cake almost caught fire.

Maybe it was steamed pudding cooked in the microwave. I've made a syrup cake before, flip the bowl upside down when done and all the syrup melts into the cake
