child refusing to eat

I have 2 year old twins (girl and boy). After weaning their eating was ok but recently the girl has been refusing to eat almost anything, filling up on milk and fruit juice. She did have a bad experience at nursery around the time she stopped eating but I have removed her from nursery 3 months ago and am at home with them. She is getting constipation because of this and her eating is now starting to affect his as he is starting to copy her. Any ideas?

thanks, Ann Marie

Try offering water only instead of milk or juice for a few days - they'll survive (and certainly won't suffer) and they'll get hungry.

you have the answer in your post!

you dont let them fill up on milk / fruit juice...

Offer meals, dont make a huge big deal about it, but if they dont eat / all much of it than nothing at all except water until next meal...

hungry children eat, end of, especially when they realise that the food on offer is all there is and they can eat it or starve.

Obvioulsy offer small portions (they can always have more) and praise when food is eaten

No child has EVER starved themselves, so dont worry if they eat NOTHING for a few days... when hungry they WILL eat

i agree with whats been said.

I have to agree. It is amazing how they can eat nothing for ages and then age one good meal a day

they only need so many calories and if they are drinking too much milk they get the calories that way and wont be hungry try water only for a few days it worked with my ds
