Leftover skin from smoked salmon - what can I do with it?

I like to avoid food waste and use up every little bit of food I have in the house. But I've no idea what to do with leftover smoked salmon skin. It's quite juicy and I'm sure there're plenty of nutrients there. Any ideas?

Um, put it in the Hot Bin composter?

Chop it up and mix in with spinach and Gorgonzola in some pasta.

I'd give it to the dog

Bupkiss · 30/11/2020 19:11

Eat it at the same time you eat the rest of the salmon? Confused

ThatDirection · 30/11/2020 19:17

We give it to our dog. Do you mean salmon fillets/steaks?

TR888 · 30/11/2020 19:18

No, I can't eat it as it is. It's not like cooked salmon, the skin is quite tough and a little "leathery". Maybe I can boil it and male a pate, or crisp it up in the icen -although I don't want to stink the house out...

Fry it - crispy salmon skin is lovely!

JillyCareful · 30/11/2020 19:21

Yo sushi do a crispy salmon skin wrap with rice and nori, let me see if there’s a recipe.

InTheLongGrass · 30/11/2020 19:24

I think you'd need to (deep?) fry it until crispy.

You might get away with oven cooking it in a very hot oven between two heavy metal baking sheets.

Should be clicky now

Put it on a baking tray in between sheets of baking paper then put another baking tray on top to hold it flat. Put it in the oven about 160 degrees til it goes crispy. Then crumble it over a salad/risotto/pasta.
