Urgent: Christmas cake/ Delia Smith recipe

I am making the Christmas cake from Delia's complete cookery Course (rich fruit cake). Well I got swayed by all the ingredients in Aldi. Have not made one for 7 years at least.

It's all in the 8 inch round tin now, greased and lined.

She says: tie a double layer of brown paper aorund the sides of the tin: done

Then cover the top with a double square of grease proof paper with a small hole in the middle

Is that a tied on big square of paper over the whole tin (like for a steamed pudding)

or a small square/circle that fits inside the tin and sits on top of the cake mix?

Anybody know? Help!

The second one I think.

I just cut a square of greaseproof big enough to cover the whole cake, and rest it lightly on the top of the tin during the cooking - in fact I just took mine out of the oven an hour ago - it looks (and smells) lovely!

Thanks,

Have gone with the big square covering the whole tin... will know how it got on at 8.00 tonight.

Great, hope it turns out as well as mine did!
