Hi, I am in the market for some new baking trays (mine are 15+years old Blush). Whats best to go for? For cookies and roasts, (separate trays of course)

Following
I am debating between silicone or nonstick
Have to be dishwasher proof!

LadyEloise · 19/11/2020 13:28

Watching with interest. What brand is truly non stick and long lasting ?

LunaLoveFood · 19/11/2020 13:45

Do not get pro cook non stick ones they are useless.

I bought DM some teflon ones at christmas and they were amazing,. nothing sticks to them even after a year. She got me a pro cook casserole dish that I loved so thought I would get baking trays too and everything sticks to them no matter what I do.

The Circulon range of products is very good, I don't tend to put them in the dishwasher though so maybe that helps.

I have Pyrex magic baking trays and roasting tin, the non-stick is very good and easy to clean. I've had my trays for 5 years, the coating has remained undamaged and non-stick still works just as well. They have an extended lip that acts as a handle too, which is useful.

I love my Mermaid ones, but you have to season them and they don't go in the dishwasher. They aren't cast iron, so can be soaked, and if they get really, really bad, you can use a harsh chemical cleaner, re-season and carry on.

I treated myself to the Le Creuset cookie tray and it's so non-stick that the cookies slid off it as I was lifting them out of the oven.

youngestisapsycho · 19/11/2020 14:18

Lakeland do some good ones.

caringcarer · 19/11/2020 14:23

Oh I didn't know Le Cruset did a cookie tray. I might get one for my very difficult to please sister who has everything. She loves cooking and I know she makes great ginger cookies because she gives me some. She occasionally complains they stick.

Another vote for the Mermaid ones

caringcarer · 19/11/2020 14:26

Le Cruset £23.34 at Leekes.

Mumisnotmyonlyname · 19/11/2020 16:55

I like strong (eg 3 ply) stainless steel ones. They last.

AlexisIsMySpiritAnimal · 19/11/2020 17:22

Get glass Pyrex ones!
I was sick of my metal ones never actually being non stick & going rusty etc.
The glass ones are fab, nothing really sticks but you can get really scrubby with them anyway so win win.
I have loads of glass cook ware now, if anything metal needs replacing I get glass.

lexloofah · 19/11/2020 20:12

second the glass Pyrex ones, here at John Lewis and I expect Lakeland, Amazon etc. I saw one in TK Maxx just before this lockdown. It is my most often used tray as doesn't stick, retains heat and gets things crispy, esp good for chips/wedges, breaded things

SoTiredNeedHoliday · 20/11/2020 16:18

oh I hadn't thought of the glass ones! Are they fragile? lexloofah? AlexisIsMySpiritAnimal?

I’ve got circulon baking trays. They were fab for the first couple of years, now they’re useless. Everything sticks to them! Strange because I’ve never run them through the dishwasher. Might give the LeCreuset ones a go!

AlexisIsMySpiritAnimal · 20/11/2020 16:32

No, mine are really substantial. They make a real good clunk when you put them down on the cooker top. I'll find the link for the ones I have.

AlexisIsMySpiritAnimal · 20/11/2020 16:35

Lol, bloody link fail!

lexloofah · 21/11/2020 15:32

No not fragile, very thick, just don't put on a cold or wet surface when they are just out of the oven, stovetop or trivet is fine. I paid 4.99 on Ocado in a sale, they are smaller than the sheet type trays, I would say one glass and one or two metal is a good way to go

Shopaholic100 · 23/12/2020 22:44

Tefal ones are excellent, I have two which I’ve used for the last 20 years and are regularly used. Still going strong. Hate the Pyrex ones, they are supposedly non stick but everything sticks to them like superglue. You can’t used a scourer or the non stick coating comes and the tray goes rusty.

cdtaylornats · 23/12/2020 23:16

I buy cheap ones from Amazon, they last a couple of years or until I burn something onto them.

TuxedoPanther · 23/12/2020 23:41
