Would you eat Weetabix with a use-by date of March 2020?

I’ve just discovered in a cupboard an unopened packet of Weetabix (well, Co-op equivalent) with a use-by date of March 2020. Wondering whether it’s still ok?!

Yes, it is dried product so will be absolutely fine. Weetabix will outlive us all.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 11/11/2020 13:28

Yes. Not going to give you food poisoning and if sealed unlikely they will have gone stale.

I would, my dh wouldn't.

Without a second thought.

It'll be a "best before" rather than "use by" (my different supermarket brand version is a best before anyway.)

It might be a different texture (maybe soggier? It doesn't last long enough in our house for me to know what stale Weetabix would do) but it certainly isn't dangerous to eat it.

I’d give it a sniff - if it doesn’t smell stale or rancid I’d crack on and eat it. But I would imagine it’d be absolutely fine.

@PenguinsOnParade Good point - I just checked and it does say “Best Before” rather than “Use By”.

I would eat it if it tasted OK, but I've tried out of date Weetabix, and it was rank. I don't think it would make you ill at all, but they definitely do not taste very nice when they are past their sell by date.
