My son hates it so consequently not drinking enough fluid as I keep giving it to him. Suddenly wondered if I could just drop it. He has a yogurt a day and cheese but obviously worried about calcium intake if we give the milk up.

I 'think' as long as he is having other dairy products then it is fine to drop it.
Keep his fluids up with water etc..
wish mine would drop milk but they are fiends for it..costs me a fortune..lol

Mine only has it with cereal, there are other ways of getting calcium.

from the age of 1 approx 350mls (12oz) is recommended but not all/any has to be as a drink as long as they have other sources of the same nutrients. My 4 year old doesnt really drink milk at all now but likes drinkable yoghurt, youghurt, cheese sauces, ice cream, etc so I dont worry about her calcium intake.

None as a drink TBH

He doesn't need any if he gets calcium from other sources. There has even been research to suggest that dairy products negate calcium absorption anyway. My kids eat lots of leafy greens, figs, seeds and nuts, as well as fortifies juices and cereals sometimes too. They get plenty of calcium!

If you were still worried try half of a supplement a day. (Though can be constipating...)

Oh and how could I forget beans! Even bog standard bakies are high in calcium. And soya beans espesh!
