Too much, not enough or just right ?
I do shift work so it's not always at conventional times

Meal 1 skipped
Meal 2 sliced chicken sandwich and a nakd bar
Meal 3 chicken and vegetable stir fry and a pack of microwave rice

It depends on portion size, but probably not enough and not enough variety either.

I'd need breakfast, maybe porridge & fruit, and more for supper.

@Mintjulia

It depends on portion size, but probably not enough and not enough variety either.

I'd need breakfast, maybe porridge & fruit, and more for supper.

Two slices of chicken in the sandwich, other days it's tuna or cheese and peppers. I tend not to have meal one because if I work from 10am to 4pm or 12 til 6 I either have a meal before work and after as I don't get a break and then have a cooked meal after work so it ends up as two meals a day but then I'm hungry in the early hours but wouldn't want breakfast and lunch before ten am so only have one or the other on those days. On the 12 til 6 days it tends to be breakfast about 11am and then a sandwich in the afternoon when working and dinner about 8pm.

Yesterday was unusually monotonous as I didn't feel like cooking, usually the variety is better.

It would be enough for me ... however I usually eat a lot more, not because I am hungry but because I am greedy and overweight. Two meals a day suits me fine, but family life and society in general encourages us to eat three meals a day. If you genuinely don't feel hungry and can manage on two meals then don't worry but if you feel tired or can't do your job properly then you are probably not eating enough, or not eating the right sort of food.

Monty27 · 07/11/2020 05:30

I'd be happy with that. I eat what I want when I want. Sometimes I have an appetite sometimes I don't.

ChikiTIKI · 07/11/2020 05:30

Not enough food for me. I am 5ft 9 and 60kg.

I couldn't make it to lunch without eat anything, I'd probably be sick from exhaustion! I am breastfeeding though.

Too much if the same here, meals too similar.

Also where is the fruit? And veg?

ChikiTIKI · 07/11/2020 05:31

Oh sorry there is veg... Still needs fruit though!

Anordinarymum · 07/11/2020 05:37

It does not sound like it's enough. I wonder how many calories there are in that amount of food ?

PerpetuallyUnderwhelmed · 07/11/2020 05:42

Isn't that about 1000 calories? Not enough food at all, especially if your job is in any way physical.

I would be exhausted and lacking in energy if that was all I ate. (I am 5ft10 and 60kg). Do you feel full? Do you crave caffeine and chocolate? Do you end up binging on unhealthy food after a few days of this? I know I certainly would.

wirldsgonemad · 07/11/2020 05:42

2 meals per day is a bit like intermittent fasting, or eating for 8 hours out of 24. It's supposed to be really good for you.

MLMsuperfan · 07/11/2020 05:44

Nowhere near enough.

Monty27 · 07/11/2020 05:45

It's my sort of diet. I'll have yogurt and berries or yogurt and honey as desserts 😋

kowari · 07/11/2020 05:47

Was it a double portion of stir fry to match the rice? That's double the rice I would serve. Is there three serves of veg in the stir fry? I'd want two serves of fruit and dairy as well.

redhilllsrosie · 07/11/2020 21:35

The stir fry was a portion from two chicken breasts, four different vegetables and the rice. I eat plenty of vegetables but not fruit. Today was a glass of orange juice (four oranges) apple juice (the whole apple) , a bacon and egg sandwich as it's Saturday, dinner was chick peas, brown rice and spinach with peppers, onions. I'm hungry now though but won't eat until probably mid morning.

As you are essentially having two servings at dinner, I would say the quantity is enough.

lastqueenofscotland · 10/11/2020 12:16

I’d be fucking ravenous

MLMsuperfan · 10/11/2020 21:13

Making yourself miserable restricting food is a good recipe for yo yo dieting.

SpaceOP · 11/11/2020 10:39

Are you on a diet? Is that why your'e eating like this? I mean, it's not the worst I've seen but would depend a lot on portion size and variety. Lots of people stick to just meals and don't snack (probably thin people) and as long as those meals are balanced and appropriately portioned, I think that's fine. Personally though, I couldn't eat that and be okay for the day. At the very least, I'd need breakfast or something more substantial at lunch.

maxelly · 11/11/2020 11:35

It depends a lot on your height/weight, age and activity level, also are you actively trying to lose weight? How do you feel on it, hungry or fine? I'd say if you are small, slim and sedentary it's probably just about OK especially if you eat a bit extra at the weekends. Otherwise it's probably not enough food unless you are on a diet?

Scbchl · 11/11/2020 11:35

Not enough I'd be starving.

PurpleDaisies · 11/11/2020 11:38

Is that all you’re eating? No snacks at all?

I’d be absolutely starving. That looks like something someone on a serious diet would eat in a day.

BillywigSting · 11/11/2020 11:42

I'd be fine with that but would have to have a coffee in the morning. I regularly don't eat breakfast because it makes me feel nauseous, especially not before 9am and I start work at 8am.

Active job (hca) and I don't really snack either.

I might be hungry around 11am ish but would generally think I might as well wait until lunch to eat by that point.

I'm very short (4ft8) but quite overweight.

I can and do eat more than that in a day but it would do me (and I probably wouldn't be such a fatty!)
