Chicken and bugs

Does anyone know, if I've started off a recipe with chicken breast which requires part frying off with veg and part oven cooking, can I break the two parts? I've just done the first half and put it ready to bake, but we aren't eating until 630. Will we become ill if I leave it in the oven until 6, then bake it?

Thank you all

Don't do that if it's not cooked through. Leaving it in the fridge is fine but chicken breast will dry out easily so I'd add some more moisture/fat to it and be careful it cooks through.

Thank you. I'll do that now.

In fridge! Probably best, and no nagging worries all afternoon. Thanks.

You're welcome! Hope it turned out well! Diploma in Food Hygeine mostly goes to waste when you're a History teacher!

@Hairydogmummy, you cannot leave part cooked chicken in the fridge to finish later! Bacterial growth will have begun, and there is no way it can be chilled down quickly enough to stop growth. Once you have begun cooking chicken you must finish the process until it reaches an internal temp of 70 c.

@Mumisnotmyonlyname presumably you've had the chicken now, and there's a good chance that all will be well! Nonetheless in the future it's not a good idea, to put it mildly.
