Hello
My youngest daughter who is 13m, loves pasta.
Pasta, pasta and only pasta, so at the minute i am having to make sauces with veg hidden in it so that she eating something other than drum wheat.

She also only has two bottom teeth, so all food has to be quite soft for her.

So far i have made variations on cheese sauce : garlic, ham, Peas, Broccoli etc...
and a few versions of tomato sauce with onion, carrot celery base etc... with tin toms chucked in and grated courgette etc...

do any of you have any successful examples of nice pasta sauces for toddlers with not much in the way of teeth.

any posts greatly appreciated.

Charlie

I like pesto diluted with cream or creme fraiche and bits of bacon but my ds2 will only eat pasta with no sauce

Asparagus sauce: steam asparagus. Puree in one of those choppers with olive oil, lemon juice, parmesan cheese, and a wee bit of garlic.

Can do the same with broccoli.

Spinach and mascarpone sauce. This is a Jamie Oliver recipe, and probably con google the recipe.

Sicilian courgette sauce: From Nigella's Forever summer. Grate courgette and cook slowly over low heat with some garlic until mushy. In the meantime, soak sultanas (she does in Marsala, but you can do apple juice). Toss in sultanas, add parmesan cheese and season (she also adds pinenuts, but you can omit it at your baby's stage)

I have also added pasta to a minced fish mornay with success.

Can also give pureed bolognaise sauce.

pesto sauce with pureed spinach added

Yes broccoli is great pureed with garlic after cooking and tossed in with the pasta.

Also courgettes are nice and soft when cooked.

You could doa pasta bake with cooked beans added for a fibre hit.

I put the cooked pasta in a baking dish with wilted spinach, beans, cooked onions and garlic, tinned toms, grated carrot, cooked courgette ect. Top with breadcrumbs and bake for 20-30 mins.
