Any suggestions for finger foods for a 6 month old. What food can I try for breakfast ( doesn't like fruit yet ).

toast and banana

6 months is still quite early, it may take a while to get the hang of it, but you can certainly try banana, cooked vegetable batons (e.g. carrot, parsnip), rice cakes. My dd liked chewing on apple and pear pieces too - in fact she wasn't that keen on apple puree, but loved it as finger food. Often you find they love feeding themselves and if it's something they can pick up they're more likely to eat it than if it requires a spoon.

I've been weaning my DD2 who was 6 months on Tuesday, and couldn't remember much, but the HV today said that 7 months is really the age where they get to grips (literally!) with finger foods. She suggested trying dairylea triangles as a first finger food. When DD1 was 7 months I used to cut the crusts off bread, roll the bread a bit thinner with a rolling pin, then spread with soft cheese, roll it up like a swiss roll, then slice it.

peas and sweetcorn. My ds spends ages eating these one by one. it really makes me laugh and he loves them too.
Toast is a favourite too

I feed Dd (7mo) brocolli florets - steamed until they are pretty soft. She kind of sucks them and they disolve in her mouth. Also steamed green beans and other veggies as well as the obvious rusks. I do think it's a bit risky - she does sometimes bite big bits off - only choked twice, but think I may be pushing her too fast.
