I’ve find a jar in my cupboard.
Any ideas for a meal please?
I must have bought it for a recipe that I can no longer recall.

TIA

I have poured Koran bbq sauce and Japanese teriyaki sauce on chicken thighs or steaks and then grilled them. Bloody delicious!!!

Korean fried chicken or Korean fried rice are both amazing. Lots of recipes online.

I also really love it with pork, have done pulled pork in the slow cooker with it and also marinated pork steaks with it and just garnished with chopped spring onions, chilli and sesame seeds. Lovely served with crispy roasted kale (comes out like crispy seaweed from the chinese).

It’s quite spicy isn’t it?

Is it Korean chilli-bean BBQ? If so 100% the Bill Granger Korean Chilli Sesame Peanut crispy chicken from his new book. Recipe was in Sunday Times mag the other week. Obsessed with it! (Don't bother with the dipping sauce)

It’s just Sainsbury’s Korean Bbq sauce in a jar. I had it at the back of a cupboard Grin

I’m Korean and not familiar with Korean barbecue sauce so was curious. It looks to be a bulgogi marinade. If so, slice beef eye or sirloin thinly and marinate in the “sauce” for an hour or 2. You can also marinate chicken strips, thinly sliced pork, or beef short rib sliced across the bones (LA Kalbi cut - I get my butcher to do this here). Don’t leave the meat in the marinade too long because there is usually a fruit like Nashi pear, kiwi, or pineapple which has enzymes to tenderise the meat and leaving the meat to marinate too long will result in a wierd texture.

Typically the meat is grilled at the table on a stovetop grill, but I find the second best results are to place the meat under the grill and flip halfway.

Bulgogi is served cut into large bite size bits and wrapped in lettuce with rice, a spicy bean paste, and a bit of kimchi (ssam).

Here is a good visual.

mominatrix, thank you so much for that post.

In the end, I used the sauce to cover carrots, onions, peppers, aubergine, squash & courgette and roasted in the oven.

The result was edible (with couscous) but not great.

Your use of the sauce sounds much more appealing.Smile
