In an attempt to reduce my food bill I bought some pork mince.

What do you cook with pork mince?

Fry with chopped onion, water chestnuts and Thai green curry paste. Serve wrapped in lettuce leaves.
Or Swedish meatballs; shape & fry, remove from pan, brown onion, add sour cream & redcurrent jelly. Add meatballs Smile

Deffo Thai type things

We don't eat red meat so only buy pork or turkey mince. I cook exactly the same things as I would with beef mince so bolognese, chilli, lasagna etc etc and we don't really notice the difference once the ragu sauce and other stuff is added. We sometimes use half pork mince and half quorn so even healthier.

Pork burgers with chopped red peppers - the ones you get in a jar (a Mary Berry recipe, I think). Yum!

Out of interest, why?

I make pork mince into meatballs, burgers, mix with beef mince for bolognese, use in bolognese on its own.

Unfortunately it's hard to source good quality pork mince so we don't eat it that often.

Thai Basil pork or Pork and Apple burgers are what I normally make with it.

AnneOfCleavage echoing why? Higher fat, lower iron and almost invariably lower welfare than beef or lamb.

Nutritionally, pork IS red meat. Confused
AnneOfCleavage · 24/09/2020 19:48

Scrowy and Arietty we find we can't digest red meat as well as whiter meat. DD is mainly pescatarian but she will sometimes eat some chicken or mince dishes with pork or turkey but won't eat red so win win in our house as much easier cooking one dish for us all.

AnneOfCleavage · 24/09/2020 19:50

Sorry not Arietty but villainous - also Turkey mince is much lower in fat so much better for you and much easier to digest in our case. Smile
