Help! Need some ideas of what to do with frozen fish...

Limited supply of stock at the moment and not a very imaginative cook (but can follow a recipe)

I have:
Frozen coley fillets
Rice, couscous and lentils
Numerous spices
Garlic and chilli
Not many veggies (onions, carrots and some cabbage and that's it)

Curry is my immediate thought but I wouldn't have a clue on where to start

Thanks!

Can fish be cooked from frozen??

Do you have any coconut milk? (not essential but is very nice)

notnowbernard · 09/10/2007 17:42

I thought I could defrost them first (put in bowl of water or something)

No cocunut milk

any pasta sauce or tinned toms?
I love loyd grossman sauces. You could pour over and microwave.

notnowbernard · 09/10/2007 17:47

Yes, have tinned toms.

Scary i was just wondering what to do with frozen salmon

UlySCREAMS · 09/10/2007 17:56

onions? peppers?

UlySCREAMS · 09/10/2007 17:57

oh you said onions. I'd fry up onions and then add tinned toms and your spices and either bake in oven with fish or pre cook fish and put over. then serve with your rice or couscous.

dinny · 09/10/2007 17:57

you can cook those frozen coley steaks from frozen

fish pie? make up a a white sauce, add gently-sauteed onion and carrot, grated cheese, mustard and pour over fish - mashed potato on top.

notnowbernard · 09/10/2007 17:59

That sounds easy (and tasty!)

What spices would you suggest and would I pour the tom sauce over the frozen fish and then pit in oven?

Dinny - sounds lush but I have neither spuds nor milk

Depends who you're cooking for? Basil goes nice with tomatoes. Garlic definitely and black pepper, pinch of salt maybe?
I tend to just throw stuff in if I'm not following a recipe.

dinny · 09/10/2007 18:01

sorry - how unhelpful am I??!!

notnowbernard · 09/10/2007 18:04

Cooking for me and dp.

He prefers spicy stuff, so have loads of indian spices

Maybe whack a bit of stock or wine in?

UlySCREAMS · 09/10/2007 18:08

What about this but use something instead of pepper or leave out?
