Timing of dinner for toddler?

I know it sounds like a dim question but what time do most of you give dinner to your toddler? Do you do tea at 4 and a snack before bedtime? or dinner with rest of the family at 6 ish? DS is 2 and he isnot eating very well so I'm trying to figure out what would work best...

Thanks!

DD has always eaten around 6:30pm with me and DH, from being weaned. She would have a small healthy snack around 3:30pm to keep her going.

6pm (since DS was 2, now nearly 3), but then he doesn't sleep much (bedtime around 8.30 since 2ish), so may not be a good example!

DS has his tea about 6-6:30 and goes to bed around 7:30. He has a snack about 4

ds1 is 2.4 and gets supper around 5.30, 6ish. He doesn't normally need anything to eat between lunch and supper.

DS 18m goes to nursery and they have dinner at around 4pm. At the weekend I normally knock this back to 5pm but not usually any later. He normally has a banana before bedtime.

my ds has dinner at around 4-5 depending how tired he is and maybe biscuit with milk or slice of toast if havent eaten much at dinner at around 6 bed can be 6.30-7.30 he is 2.5 this works well if he looks really tired i just make dinner bit earlier no snacks from 1.30 just lunch fruit crisps then nothing till dinner

also try to cut out juice only 2 cups from lunch to dinner or it fills him up

I feed my two about 4.30-5ish really depending on when I think they are ready. Usually they get a bit grumpy and if I say 'would you like your tea?' they both go running toward the gate like they've never been fed.

Ds (17 months) eats at about 5.30 and usually has had a snack at about 3ish (typically banana, breadsticks, or a biscuit).

I (and dh if around) eat later once he is in bed.

dd(4) and ds(1) have dinner around 5pm or at the weekend sometimes as late as 6pm. They have a snack around 3pm and ds still has a cup of milk at bedtime. DH and I eat later (around 8pm) when he gets home from work, except for weekends when we all eat together.

If you all eat at 6ish, then bed time allowing, I would definitely go for all eating together then. I think there are huge benefits to eating as a family where possible. I don't know what time he has lunch but if really early, you could introduce a semi-substantial snack at 3ish e.g. greek yoghurt with grated / pureed apple and grated cheese mixed through?

DS (2.3) has tea at 5 (he can last til 5.30 if he is busy and distratced). Recently DP and I (sometimes just one of us depending on work) have a starter with him eg some soup or a baked mushroom - that kind of thing. Agree that he should learn that eating is a social thing so its our compromise. We then have the rest of our dinner once he is in bed (6.45)
