Hello
I’ve googled with no success. Just visited Durham Cathedral and now need the recipe for this cake. Does anyone have one? Pretty please.

I've never heard of it, or eaten it. Can you describe what you think was in it? That might well be a Durham-themed name for something that normally goes by another name.

I found a picture of it on Twitter. That looks to me like a shortcrust pastry base, with a topping on top a bit like a Bakewell slice. I can see what I think are chopped walnuts, currants, sultanas or raisins, and glace cherries. Would you say they're held together in a kind of cakey mix? Almond flavour? If it wasn't cakey, I'd surmise the fruit is just mixed with butter and perhaps sugar. Any spice flavour?

I'm on a mission now ...

Email the cafe asking for the recipe?

That looks nice.
The top bit with fruit in looks like it's held together with raw-like cake mix (no idea how else to describe it). But not like proper fruit cake.

£25 on Amazon. I'm sure it's a lovely book but I'm afraid I'm not splashing out that much to satisfy my curiosity about this. I'd love to go Lindisfarne, though, and if we do ever make it I know where I'm going for coffee. The reviews on TripAdvisor are ecstatic.

We could club together to buy it then share the recipe (just joking!). I could just eat something like that now though, and that looks like the nicest tea shop ever. I've also fancied a trip to Lindisfarne since watching a program about the early saints, looks fascinating and so beautiful.
