DS is now running to school in the mornings so doesn’t want to eat before he leaves. They can’t use the canteen now, nor the kettle in their form room (so no instant porridge).

I was wondering what could be light to pack, not fall to pieces and be nice for him when he gets in to school?

He’s not fond of muffins or flapjacks - but I don’t really want anything too sugary.

Is a ham and cheese roll ok? Can’t have that every day though!

I did make something that other people may like (he didn’t). Use a muffin tray and put some baby spinach and baby tomatoes sliced in half in the bottom then top with whisked egg and some grated cheese on top. Bake in the oven and it’s little omelette things.

He wasn’t too keen but I like them for brunch at the weekend.

Ok - here’s where we are...

I found a handy food container in the back of the cupboard. Don’t know if I can advertise but it’s the make you can buy in supermarkets...

It’s a round tub which is the perfect sized for a bagel and there’s a lid that screws on with another small bowl (and little spoon) that screws into that which is perfect for chopped fruit or cereal. So it’s not much larger than a large can and sturdy & light. I had been giving him apples and oranges which he wasn’t eating but chopped mango is his catnip!

I also got some boxes of some nice muesli and porridge bars (so much cheaper than buying small packs in the shops), so we are all up and running - Haha.

The only issue is bagel contents - ham and cheese isn’t great for every day and hummous or tuna is a bit stinky.

Half of Europe eat bread and ham for breakfast.

You could change the filling to chicken and beef.

Can he run with a flask? I'm thinking you cold put boiling water in and he could make porridge with it.

For warmer days 'vegan ice cream', peel bananas, freeze overnight, blitz in a blender and put in a pot - it won't melt but will still be cold when he gets to school.

As an alternative to chopped fruit you can do tomatoes, carrots and cucmber.

A pot of humus and bread sticks? (break them in half before packing).

Hot food like sausages or a bacon sandwich will stay warm for a while with a bit of insulation.

Continental ham cheese salami, Rol them up with some cream cheese if you want, hard boiled egg if his mates will cope either smell.

We make crustless quiche basically omelette in a small silicone thing, eggs cheese and whatever you have in the fridge, chirizo or salami work

Have you tried savoury scones OP?

They're really easy to make, easy to transport, taste amazing and buttered and wrapped up warm in some tinfoil they should still be nice and warm for when your DS gets to school.
