Generally yes he can eat your food. You will find various books give advice about not to give this and that, but it is often conflicting and difficult to know what to believe. You're right about honey and nuts, and another sometimes said is strawberries ( although i did give them to my dd.)
I used to give my dd every meal i cooked for us, and saved leftovers in the freezer for nights when i was being lazy ( frozen chips and chicken burgers or similar) purely so that dd had a healthier option)
i always gave her gravy and other sauces because it makes it easier to mash meals.
Some suggestions of easy to eat meals - shepherds pie, fish pie, spag bol, any pie with either gravy or a white sauce in. i even gave dd homemade mild curries to try and get her to enjoy all flavours!
Another thing is don't get too worried if he doesn't eat so well at some meal times - likely to happen because of new textures and flavours. I think the more you try and persuade children to eat, the less they want to. So i've always let my dd get on with feeding herself what she wants, and now at 2yrs she is a good eater of all foods. If she didn't eat much at a meal time i used to give her a slice of bread and butter to fill her up - nothing more exciting otherwise she'd always expect it.
Enjoy it! it gets much easier now you can prepare just one meal. (although the floor begins to get a bit messier at this stage after meals!)
