Hi everyone,
So I'm in a bit of a pickle as my fridge and freezer have both packed in yesterday. I am getting a new one delivered on Monday but am struggling with food ideas until then. I have 2 under 4's and luckily one has dinner at nurseries but if anyone has any ideas for dinners that don't use the fridge or freezer then its be appreciated as I'm having a big of a panic.

jacket potato with tinned toppings eg backed beans, tuna mayo (mayo will survive out of the fridge though will bhave a longer life in the fridge obviously)

browse your supermarket tinned foods aisle you can get stews and other dishes ready made.

pasta with a jar of sauce

you can buy fridge/freezer stuff in small quantities for use that day, and just keep it out of the fridge and use it up

a lot of the things you might normally keep in the fridge will be fine for a couple of days just at room temperature. cheddar cheese, fresh vegetables for example. don't trust meat that has been out of the fridge a long time but you can buy some frozen quorn and put it in a cool bag or wrap it in lots of newspaper and it will obviously defrost but quite slowly so will still be fine the day after

@YinuCeatleAyru thankyou very much, that's all really helpful I didn't even think about the quorn that's a great idea. I'm trying to get a same day delivery cool bag so that I can keep some fridge stuff in there so hopefully that'll help a little

Cooking on a bootstrap is good for this
Jack's Chilli
Beef Boozy (beef dish served with rice or cous cous)
Corned beef Bolognese.
Peach and chickpea curry

Tinned curry. I use vegetable curry because I’m a bit funny about tinned meat, and add a tin of chickpeas to bulk it out and add protein.
Pasta with tomato sauce, tinned tuna and tinned sweetcorn
Tinned ratatouille with added butter beans, served with jacket potatoes or mash.
Falafel burgers www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/falafel-burgers-0

Tuna and sweetcorn fish cakes

Eggs are fine kept at room temperature.
Hard cheeses such as cheddar also fine for a few days.

Tinned meal ideas:
Beans on toast
Salade Niçoise with tinned tuna, hard boiled eggs, new potatoes and fresh green beans.
Tinned soup, if the weather gets a bit cooler
Hot dogs in bread rolls
Also pasta sauce/pesto sauce in jars will be handy.
Pick up some pizzas or pizza bases they will be fine to use the next day.

Your new cool bag might need those frozen blocks to use it?

Have a look at John West, they do pouches of grains with salmon that you just serve out, quite a few different flavours. (will be with tinned fish shelf)
Rio Mare do bowls of ready made cous-cous or bean salad with tuna, no fridge needed, just serve out.
You could make similar yourself with packets of flavoured cous-cous or tinned mixed beans and tuna or salmon etc.

Run the cold tap so is as cold as possible, fill sink or a bucket and fill with the cold water and ice if get from shop. Then can store milk etc in. Though obviously sterilised and long life may last longer.

Toasted sandwiches for a meal. Tinned meat or fish/paste or eggs for sandwich fillings.

Chickpea and potato curry with rice.

Pasta and pesto.

Boiled eggs.

Hot dogs.

Root veg soup.

Thanks everyone, some really good ideas. I don't drive so just picked up from my local tescos some tinned chilli but tomorrow I'm going to go to the big tescos to get a wider variety. Pity it's not winter and I could just keep things outside Grin
