Overcooked pasta - bake?

Long story short I have s load of overcooked pasta. It came from soup so is really tasty and tomatoey but has soaked up a lot of liquid. I have a few veggies, salami and cheese in. If I make up a pasta bake and bake it long enough, will the pasta dry out and firm up do you think? I hate to waste it (the soup was a bit of a labour of love!) and if it works it should be a meal the kids will like. Anyone done this? Will it work? Last thing I want is to have to throw more food away!

no i don't think it will firm up as you'd need sauce in a bake and they would absorb more liquid

You can fry cooked pasta which is yuuuuuuuum and goes crisp, but I'd probably just serve what you have as a thick soup. Any more faffing will make it soggier.

I don't think I would need sauce as it's already soaked up a load of tomato soup so I'm thinking baking it would dehydrate the pasta and leave quite a dry but hopefully tasty bake? We do tend to have pasta quite dry, I.e. a small quantity of highly flavoured sauce so i think that aspect would be ok, just not sure about the texture.

Alternatively I could end up with a tray of burnt mush Grin

Could you try a little test batch before potentially wasting all the cheese and veggies? I can't imagine it will work but you don't know without trying :)

Test batch is a good shout! Thank you.

Pasta frittata? As in use the pasta in place of potato, add tasty veg, and bind with egg - it's quite nice as a rescue dish.

Version from Reddit:

Make a pasta frittata. Whisk together milk, a few eggs, some cheese, maybe some garlic, onion, or any other veggies you have on hand. Add your pasta and fry it off in a skillet the way you would a frittata. Invert it onto a plate and then cook the other side too until it's crispy and delicious

Although I could try frying it... That does sound good

Love the sound of frittata but my son is allergic to egg unfortunately
