Waffle pre-prep?

Hi, I am relatively new to waffle making so please excuse a newbie question.

Can i make my batter in the morning for cooking mid afternoon? Do your refrigerate it? (We have guests coming and I would like to make waffles for dessert but it would be best if I could prep in the morning.)

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Yes - but don't put the bicarb in before you refrigerate. Make sure you set a reminder or a make a note to put it in before you cook the waffles! Most batters are improved by letting them rest before you use as it lets the gluten in the flour relax and you get fluffier, less chewy results.

Try a yeast based recipe. They are meant to be left for a few hours before cooking. My go to recipe is one for leige waffles that was posted on mumsnet and it’s amazing but too sweet for breakfast, would make a great pudding.

@wowfudge thanks for the tip.
@karmakameleon these are for pudding so I will take a look.

This is the thread. If you can the pearl sugar it’s even better. I think you can get it from ocado.

Just added this to the shopping order. One of the reviews said it's not the right kind of pearl sugar to use. Any advice?

That’s the type I use. You get lovely crunchy bits of sugar in the waffles.

You can make waffles ahead of time and reheat them in the oven.

Great @karmakameleon

@knotaknitter I could but fresh waffles straight from the machine are great.
