How would you make and decorate a cake like this? For a cake novice so easy instructions needed

I'm not a cake novice but I wouldn't attempt the buttercream decoration on that cake.

Can you make a Victoria sponge? How many is it for? Assuming less than 10 people, I would make a Victoria sponge sandwich (Delia or Mary Berry recipe via Google). When competely cool, put jam in middle and (preferably with a pallet knife) put on first coat of buttercream. Put in fridge for half an hour then do second neater coat. Add shop bought decorations eg. Icing flowers and write message with shop writing icing (Sainsbury's stock both these).

Do you have any piping nozzles? I am wondering how much of a novice you are Grin

It looks to be a basic buttercream coating, then buttercream coloured with a few different colours piped on with about 3 different nozzles, the green looks to be a leaf, one is just an open round nozzle etc. There are loads of videos on YouTube showing how to pipe basic shapes. As it is buttercream you can always just wipe it back off and put it back into the bag!

The colours on top that look like water colour are just smears of the coloured buttercream.

You can practise on a plate before piping on a cake. Go for it!

I am not a novice and I wouldn't advise attempting.

You can buy water flowers in the baking section. Alternatively you could use a palette knife and try this.. it's just coloured smears. www.instagram.com/p/CCG_QIepuL0/?igshid=1po19qvzyg7xg

You will need to make sure your buttercream is set in the fridge before you remove the cake to try do the palette knife flowers.

You could get `individual chocolate letters/ water flowers/ instant pink icing in a bag with nozzle from Dr Oetker, available online/ from Waitrose/ prob Amazon/ Etsy etc

You won't really be able to do those decorations without different nozzles, unless you just do something vaguely similar with a small palette knife.
