Best gooseberry recipes - cake? something else?

My gooseberries are particularly good this year, looking for some interesting things to do with them that will really make the best of the flavour.
I made a gooseberry / almond streusel type cake last week, but would be nice to have some more inspiration :)

Jealous... Something managed to outsmart our netting and ate all our gooseberries for the second year running!

Gooseberry meringue pie

That's really sad @TimeWastingButFun Luckily our cats scare the birds enough that they don't seem to go for the gooseberries or blackcurrants - strawberries I do have to net as they're obviously more tempting. Sadly it seems the same is true of Jostaberries - it's the first year they've really cropped, and I've lost pretty much all of them. Next year... !

Pretty please can you link to the cake you did OP - sounds yummy!

It's from a paper cookbook (very oldfashioned!) but very similar to this one with the cherries replaced by gooseberries (no need to halve the gooseberries, just top&tail them).
My recipe is also supposed to be cherries, I sometimes make it with tin cherries, & sometimes with blackcurrants, all are good.

If you have elderflower still out, pull off the petals (don’t include stalks), plus some lemon zest and add to your gooseberries in jams, syrups or crumbles.

Some lovely-looking gooseberry recipes here

Used to have gooseberry and mackerel when I was a child. Googling it says it is actually a thing, although I can't tell you if any of the recipes are any good.

I just eat them straight from the bush by the handfuls, the best fruit.

I make mine into gooseberry and elderflower jam plus a gooseberry fool or two if there is spare. I may try a sma batch of gooseberry liqueur too this year.
