yep last for years,we have had for 20 yrs ,they're still like new, except the £60 pot my mum dropped and it cracked.

I have swapped to stainless steel for my saucepans as after so many yrs I wanted a change. The big casserole dishes are still used regularly.

Well worth the investment.

Tinker - you might be right, but these Le Creuset nutters fans are passionate about them. I know the quickest way to get into dp's good books (and heaven knows I need to be sometimes) is to buy a ridiculously heavy, expensive Le Creuset item for her birthday/Christmas/anniversary.

I'm such a romantic...

Lizzylou · 25/09/2007 19:28

Love mine, was warned off by loads of people about their heaviness etc, but they are great and well worth the investment, only wish I could afford a new set in a new colour!

Anyway, I got a chilli red Chassuer casserole thing as a birthday present off partner - one of teh best presents he's bought.

My mum did have an orange Crueset and I am going to have that, I think.

So, I can do a controlled definitive test

Tinker · 25/09/2007 19:40

Hooray at scummy. I'm lusting after teh aubergine

Skyler · 25/09/2007 19:42

Casseroles are GREAT, but I couldn't be doing with the saucepans. My Meyer ones are heavy enough!

ScummyMummy · 25/09/2007 19:44

Yes- aubergine v stylish. Like the pistachio green and racing green too.

Got some for wedding presents. I have the pale blue, love it. I bought some in TK Max last week at a fraction of the original cost.

jenk1 · 25/09/2007 21:02

can't comment on caseroles but I had a griddle pan and I loathed it with a passion as everything/ and I mean everything stuck to it.

So I gave it away.

DottyDot · 25/09/2007 21:06

oh yes the griddle pan's a nightmare! Dp insists on doing tuna steaks on it - BIG MISTAKE. They stick like mad. Much better in a frying pan - sod the stripes!

That shouldn't happen - and le Creuset will replace it without quibble as they have a lifetime guarantee.

I love them, have had mine for 8 years in the lovely, violent vivid orange colour. They do weigh a ton, though.

But now I see they have got a very pretty powder blue colour. I want them now (spoilt)

Don't think I can justify it though!

3andnomore · 26/09/2007 13:04

We bought ours 12 years ago, and they are brilliant pots and pans, but indeed very heavy....we did buy a big frying pan, that I virtually never use, because I cna't lift it etc...

We bought it all in France...because it's much cheaper, and well, we were travelling back from teh UK to Germany anyway

curiouscat · 26/09/2007 13:04

Definitely worth it for casseroles as they go on hob as well as over. Wouldn't bother with saucepans/frying pans as too heavy and handles are too long to fit most cupboards.

Mercy · 26/09/2007 13:11

I've got one Le Creuset - casserole type thing - and it's still going strong after about 15 years of use.

Must get another one actually.

TheMaskedPoster · 26/09/2007 13:13

We are off le Creuset shopping this weekend. Gonna purchase a casserole dish - now what is the best size for a family of 4 - 5?
