Is tuna no good?

DS loves tuna, rice and sweetcorn salad.

Cappuccino · 22/09/2007 14:58

no I don't like tuna

well I like tuna steaks

but tinned has no omega in it apparently

MamaGabriellaMontez · 22/09/2007 15:01

salmon and broccoli quiche/ pasta

  1. baste any oily fish with thick terryaki (sweet soy) sauce and bake. Caramelizes. kids love it.
    serve with steamed brocoli

  2. boil lentils, drain and dress with olive oil and lemon juice. Flake any pan fried oily fish or straight from the tin

3)f ishcakes made from sardines and mash and seasoned with spring onion, lemon juice, cumin, coriander.
serve with greens

  1. heston Blumenthal's easy mackerel: pan fry 2 onions (do not brown) and cover with water and lemon juice and 1tbsp soy sauce. reduce until almost no water and onions tender (about 5-10mn). Pop makerel fillets ontop onions.pop the lid on and steam for 5mn. It's ready, sprinkle chopped parsley. serve with rice

tinned HAS omega, fresh doesn't actually- tis a weird one

MArlin, shark? both yummy (shark with butter, lemon and linguine- scrummy)

slim22 · 22/09/2007 15:03

fish oil supplements are a very good idea.
we all take them. I even shove one down DH's throat every evening.

Peachy · 22/09/2007 15:04

Oh maybe they've vhanged the tuna advice from alst time we had this debate- just looked

I'd give up on tuna then

Lloyed chemist does omega supplements for under £1.50

slim22 · 22/09/2007 15:04

swordfish/tuna/marlin/shark...beware of mercury content.

Cappuccino · 22/09/2007 15:06

like teriyaki idea will do

also smoked salmon in creamy sauce used to do that but forgot about it

Sardines?

If tinned, mash them and put on toast (more of a lunch though)

MamaGabriellaMontez · 22/09/2007 15:06

Cappuccino · 22/09/2007 15:07

salmon - spread mustard on top plus grated root ginger and crushed garlic then grill

sardines - mash with tomatoes and hard boiled egg yolks to make a salad - you can fill the whites and outer parts of the tomatos with the mixture if you want it to look nice or just chuck it all in.

Get fresh sardines and grill them or coat with flour and fry.

Pizza with anchovies on.

Smoked mackerel - heat it up in the oven (cover entirely in silver foil so your oven won't stink)

Kippers?
